Previously we considered this animal to be a form of what we call Volvatella viridis elsewhere on this site, and that is still a possibility. The green shells and white animals of the two are similar, but the species below is densely covered with lighter colored spots. It was figured by Gosliner et al (2018) as Volvatella sp. 4. In the Marshalls, six specimens measuring between 2 and 5mm in length were found in a clump of Caulerpa algae on a lagoon pinnacle in the northern lagoon of Utirik Atoll on 9 June 1983. The 5mm specimen is figured below.
