Pisania cf luctuosa Tapparone-Canefri,
1880
17.5mm
Pisania cf luctuosa
is rare at Kwajalein. Specimens have been seen in lagoon pinnacle caves at night
or sorted from samples of sorted rubble brought up from the seaward slope. The
identification is highly questionable, as our specimens do not match very well
those in the gastropods.com
site. The Kwajalein specimens have thin shells, similar to those of Pisania
ignea and are brown distinctly banded with white below the suture and on
the body whorl.
