Lampasopsis cruentata (Sowerby, 1835)

Lampasopsis cruentata is a very common species in the Marshalls, living in a variety of reef habitats throughout the atolls. It is most often found under rocks on hard substrates. Shells are usually thickly encrusted but the black spots along the columella of the white aperture are characteristic.

The exterior shell of the specimen below was encased in the fire coral Millepora.
