Bursa tuberosissima (Reeve, 1844)
45mm
Bursa
tuberosissima is uncommon
in the Marshalls. It lives primarily in lagoon Halimeda algae patches
at depths of 6-10m, but a few specimens have been found under rocks on lagoon
and seaward reefs. Its body whorl is typically distinctly humped; that and the
orange aperture make this an easily recognized species.
The orange aperture is similar
to B. tuberosissima, but the lack of large knobby tubercles on the
exterior of the shell seem to suggest otherwise.
