Gafrarium pectinatum (Linnaeus, 1758)

These can be found on various lagoon reefs in shallow water buried in sand under rocks. They were especially common in about 1m of water under concrete slabs dumped as a shoreline breakwater around the middle of the lagoon side of Kwajalein Island, approximately where the old Turtle Pond used to be. Empty shells were also common on some beaches at Roi-Namur. We have measured specimens up to about 40mm.
