Metanachis marquesa (Gaskoin, 1852)

There is some question about whether these common variable shells are in fact all the same species. If they are, there would appear to be some variation in color of the animal, particularly the siphon, in addition to that in the shell. These are moderately common, usually under rocks on the seaward reef.
