Naria helvola is a common
intertidal and shallow subtidal species in Hawaii and throughout the Indo-Pacific.
The coloration of Hawaiian shells differs in some ways from the species in other
areas and has been given the subspecific name hawaiiensis. The photo
below was taken in about one-half meter of water on the reef off Kewalo Basin
in Honolulu.

We have also seen Naria helvola
(although a different subspecies) in the Marshall
Islands.
