Pustularia mauiensis (Burgess, 1967)
Maui chick pea cowry, 15mm
Pustularia mauiensis was described from the Hawaiian island of Maui,
where most of the photos below were taken. We saw no specimens around Oahu,
but do have one from the big island of Hawaii. Most of those we saw were under
rocks at depths of 2 to 8m.
The photo below, which we originally
considered P. cicercula
because it was seen with others of that species at Puako, Hawaii, is now thought
to be a specimen of P. mauiensis.
