What we are calling Epifungium ulu is relatively common at Kwajalein and found, usually with eggs, on lagoon, pinnacle and seaward reefs under a variety of different fungiid corals. There is some question about whether all these are in fact the same species. Gittenberger & Giggenberger (2005) recently described several additional similar species that can be difficult to tell apart without close examination of the shell. We have not yet examined our photos closely enough to try to positively identify them.
14.85mm shell.
