Epitonium irregulare (Sowerby, 1844)

These are similar to Epitonium grayi but have wavy costae and finer striae on the shell between the costae. They are also not found with Stichodactyla haddoni, rather our specimens have been in sand under rocks or, in one case, under a living Herpolitha limax coral. The ID is not certain, however, as Kokshoorn et al (2007) suggest the shell between the costae should be smooth rather than very finely striated.
