Surrepifungium costulatum (Kiener, 1839)
30.2mm

Surrepifungium costulatum is one of the more common epitoniids found at Kwajalein. They are usually in sand and rubble pockets on the seaward reef under fungiid corals, most often the convex, elongated loaf Herpolitha limax. Often the shells are buried in fine sand underneath the coral, but clusters of sand ball egg masses are usually visible on the surface of the sand. Many photos are provded.
