Dolicholatirus lancea is a moderately rare inhabitant of the seaward reef slope, where it is usually found under rocks, in rubble or in sand pockets at depths of 10 to 20m. The few seen usually have heavily encrusted shells and are easily recognized only by the extremely long narrow shape. The figured specimen was unusually clean. The animal with its orange network is especially striking.
