Gyrineum lacunatum (Mighels, 1845)
11.5mm
Gyrineum
lacunatum is rare in the Marshalls. Three living animals are known,
all from under rocks on the atoll's western seaward reef at depths of about
15m. In addition, a couple of empty shells have been brought up in sand and
rubble samples from the steep seaward slope. This species
is usually seen in the literature as Gyrineum pusillum, but that was
apparently recently determined to be a misidentification.
