Turritellidae

Members of the Turritellidae have elongate coiled shells. Kwajalein species are mostly rather thin and are most often found empty. The aperture's outer lip is usually very thin and fragile and often looks broken, although that seems to be their normal state. We have none of our species positively identified, and are currently tentatively placing them all in the genus Turritella. (Click on a thumbnail for more images of that species.)
