Tydemania expeditionis Weber Bosse, 1901

This interesting algae comes in two distinct growth forms that one could easily mistake for different species. A clumping form (first photo below) forms masses of finger-like fuzzy balls while a fan form (second photo) spreads out in thin, fan-shaped sheets. It is common on lagoon, pinnacle and seaward reefs. This species is eaten by a local Elysia sacoglossan.
