This individual from the Marshall Islands could be A. commerson, but this is not confirmed. The spotting on the body also resembles the black form of Antennarius pictus, but the round pompom white esca seems more like that of A. commerson. Measuring about 100mm, it is the largest frogfish we've seen at Kwajalein. In other areas, it comes in a variety of color forms.
The tiny, 15mm juvenile below may be the same species.
