Pseudanthias randalli (Lubbock & Allen, 1978)

Pseudanthias randalli lives rather deep on the steep outer seaward reef at depths of at least 40m. The male, figured below, develops red and magenta longitudinal stripes. Of course, at that depth, you don't see these colors unless you bring your own light.

Looks as though the one below might be starting to change from female to male, but it has not yet developed the red bands.
