Siphamia tubifer Weber, 1909
Urchin or Tubifer cardinalfish, 70mm

This cardinalfish is sometimes commonly found in small schools nestled between the spines of sea urchins in lagoon Halimeda algae patches.

Sometimes they can also be found clustered around some of the fire anemones, such as Actinodendron plumosum. We are not certain these are Siphamia tubifer. Some at least seem to have wider black stripes reported to be more characteristic of Siphamia fuscolineata.
