Octopus cyanea Gray, 1849

Here are a few more photos of Octopus cyanea trash piles and dinner tables. The first two shots show a couple of old piles of the large top shell, Tectus niloticus (formerly Trochus niloticus). A sight like this makes one wonder what the octopus did for food before these large top shells were first introduced into the Marshall Islands in 1939.

I suppose there's plenty to eat besides top shells.
