Isopora palifera (Lamarck, 1816)

This is an abundant coral on seaward reefs, as well as lagoon and pinnacle reefs that have good water flow.

Competing with some platelike purple Montipora.

Purple Montipora growing up the bases of some stalks.

Stalks of Isopora palifera being engulfed by faster growing Lobophyllia hemprichii.

Growing on an outcrop on a lagoon pinnacle with some yellow Turbinaria.

A purple Pocillopora in front.

A small species of the polychaete worm Spirobranchus cements itself to this coral.

Much of it turned white during a severe coral bleaching event in 2016.
