Ptereleotris zebra (Fowler, 1938)
Zebra dartfish, 12cm

These dartfish are common on seaward reefs and the flat hard tops of large lagoon pinnacles, where they hover or swim about a meter or more above the bottom. They retreat to the reef and dive into the holes at the approach of danger, often many using the same holes.
