Aluterus scriptus (Osbeck, 1765)
Netted leatherjacket or Scrawled filefish, 110cm

This is the largest of the filefish at Kwaj and is seen occasionally on both lagoon and seaward reefs. They tend to be a bit shy and often retreat if a diver tries to approach. These are known to eat a variety of invertebrates, including some corals and snails.
