Broom filefish, 20cm

These are relatively common on lagoon pinnacles and seaward reefs, but they are rather shy, hanging down near the coral and slipping into hideways when approached by a diver. Our only photo is a rather distant shot with a video camera. The have distinctly white teeth, not easily seen in the photo, that are used to bite off chunks of living hard coral.
