Marshall Islands Trumpetfish, Coronetfish and Needlefish

These different families are not necessarily closely related, but all have elongate, slender bodies and are usually seen swimming up off the bottom.

Trumpetfish (Aulostomidae)

There is only one trumpetfish known from the Indo-Pacific, although it has several color forms.

Coronetfish (Fistulariidae)

Only one species of coronetfish is found in the Marshalls.

Needlefish (Belonidae)

There are several species of needlefish and halfbeaks from the Marshalls, but we are reasonably certain of only one in our photos.
