Halicampus dunckeri (Chabanaud,1929)
Duncker's pipefish, 15cm

Halicampus dunckeri is rather rare, but has been seen in algae patches on sandy lagoon slopes and on lagoon pinnacles. A few have been found on the seaward reef. Marshall Islands specimens range from light tan to mostly black.

The short snout with the bump on it seems characteristic of this species.

The specimen below was found on 12 August 2007 on the lagoon side of Omelek Island in Kwajalein Atoll.
