Marshall Islands Pipefish and Seahorses

This page covers some members of the families Sygnathidae (pipefish and seahorses) found at Kwajalein. This is not a complete list, since we have not yet seen several species known to occur in the Marshalls. Also, the identifications are by no means certain. The animals are difficult to positively identify, and the various books we referenced do not appear to agree on all the names. These references are listed at the bottom of this page. Unless otherwise noted, sizes given are maximum sizes for the species listed in Fishbase, not necessarily the size of the figured specimen. We welcome any name corrections at uwkwaj@yahoo.com.
