Alpheus djeddensis is one of the bulldozer shrimp and lives in association with the gobies Amblyeleotris steinitzi and Ctenogobiops feroculus. The shrimp maintains the burrow by pushing sand out all day. The goby stands guard outside, warning the shrimp or even blocking it inside the burrow when danger approaches. In general appearance (the light color and white saddle on the back), it resembles Alpheus ochrostriatus, but A. djeddensis has a black blotch on each side of the body, which is a bit difficult to see from the angle of the photos below.
