Aphareus rutilans Cuvier, 1830
Rusty jobfish, 110cm

Aphareus rutilans has been seen on the seaward reef and lagoon shipwrecks. The individual below was found and photographed by Stan Jazwinski on the Daisan wreck (Fumi Maru) at a depth of about 37m. This species differs from the more common Aphareus furca in its reddish color and much larger size. The individual in the photos was about twice the size of typical A. furca.
