Myripristis amaena (Castelnau, 1873)
Brick soldierfish, 26.5cm

Several individuals (including the two in front) of Myripristis amaena were discovered by Christina Sylvester mixed in with other soldierfish in this shallow water ledge. The lack of a white leading edge to the second dorsal and anal fins and the lack of the same on the upper and lower part of the tail fin help confirm the identification. The one in the back farthest to the left has the white fin edges and is another species, probably Myripristis berndti.
