Fromia milleporella (Lamarck, 1816)

Fromia milleporella is a common seastar often found in the open during the day, so they probably are not very edible. They vary from dark to bright red and are spotted with black.

A very small juvenile.

Almost never do you see Fromia milleporella without its black spots, if indeed it is the same species.

Stars often lose their arms quite easily, but it usually leaves a trace. This one does not appear to be in any way damaged; it seems to have developed with only the four arms.

Six-armed individuals are sometimes observed.

An unusual individual with seven arms.

With Fromia pacifica and Fromia sp.
