Linckia laevigata is a large star that at Kwajalein comes usually in a blue color form. They are common on the intertidal reef flat, either exposed on the reef or under rocks. They rarely extend subtidally deeper than about 3m. They get quite large, perhaps reaching half a meter in diameter.
A small juvenile.
Two small commensal shrimp, Zenopontonia soror, on the underside of Linckia laevigata. (One is tough to spot.) These shrimp are more commonly seen on Culcita seastars.
