Black jack or Black trevally

Caranx lugubris is uncommon but most often seen alone or in very small groups rather deep along the seaward reef slope. This species, particularly larger individuals, have a reputation of causing ciguatera poisoning, and eating them should be avoided. A large jack, its maximum size is reported to be about 100cm.
