Nudechinus cf verruculatus (Lütken, 1864)

These approximately 20mm urchins are usually seen under rocks or in rubble on lagoon, pinnacle or seaward reefs. There are apparently several species in the genus and it may be difficult to tell them apart, so the exact ID remains in doubt.

This species often holds rocks and other debris over its top to help disguise its shape.
