Peronella sp. 1
60mm

This sand dollar is abundant along some sandy interisland lagoon reefs, such as the one between Bigej and Meck Islands. Usually they are buried shallow beneath sand, sometimes moving around at night. There are a number of what we think are similar species of Peronella at Kwajalein, although it is possible that at least several of those are just variations of a single species.

Moving around under the sand.

A few with the sand swept off from a small area.
