Nembrotha sp. 558
60mm

The animals below almost look like they are half way between Nembrotha chamberlaini and N. lineolata. The dark brown dorsal blotches broken into longitudinal lines suggests N. lineolata. However, that species is narrower for its length, has much finer brown lines on the body, has distinct blue color on the margins of the foot and the rhinophore and gill sheaths. and has more distinctly white rhinophores with a wide brown central band. The animals below are stout, more like N. chamberlaini, lack most of the blue color (there's still a small amount on the foot margin), and have more solid maroon rhinophores, again more like N. chamberlaini. If you thickened the dorsal lines even more to make them form solid brown blotches, they would be even closer to N. chamberlaini. Finally, we have seen a number of specimens both at Anilao and in Indonesia and note that they are sometimes found with typical N. chamberlaini. We think this form needs to be examined more closely.

The individual below is feeding on a blue Rhopolaea tunicate.
