The first one we saw was exposed on a colony of bright red sponges near Bethlehem in 2015.

In 2018, we saw specimens at El Pinoy and Devil's Point.

Like Chromodoris colemani, DNA analysis of specimens of C. joshi suggests it has different color morphs usually similar to other species, possibly as a form of Mullerian mimicry. As unlikely as it appears, Gosliner et al (2018) figure a specimen very much like those in the four photos below that is genetically identical to C. joshi. They appear to eat the same red sponge. Some of the sponges, and sometimes various nudibranchs themselves, were often almost infested with the little reddish to brownish Santia isopods seen on the red sponge in the two photos below.
