Hypselodoris insulana Gosliner & Johnson, 1999
30mm

I saw this species only once, exposed during the day at a depth of about 15m in the deep part of the lagoon of Kure Atoll on 14 June 1979. Kure is the northwestern-most atoll in the northwestern Hawaiian chain. When the species was described as new a few years later, additional specimens were reported from Midway Atoll, a bit to the east of Kure and the second northwesternmost atoll in the chain. Sea Slugs of Hawaii also reports it from French Frigate Shoals. Its distribution seems to be restricted to the islands that stretch out northwest of the main Hawaiian Islands.
