Giant clam shell - Tridacna gigas

Previous
Next

This was an old one, its shell covered with large coral colonies. It was one of five we discovered empty in one of our dive sites. We had not been there for a while, and it was obvious the clams were all taken some time before, almost certainly all at the same time. The live animal is here. The next two shots show two more of the large clams harvested that day along with this one.
