Marshall Islands Rabbitfish (Siganidae)

Five species of rabbitfish are known from Kwajalein. All are reasonably common, and all can be found on a variety of lagoon, pinnacle and seaward reefs, where they graze on algae-covered rocks. All the rabbitfish have venomous spines that, at least at Kwajalein, cause mild to moderate pain but not much more of a reaction. In some places, they are a popular food fish. Unless otherwise noted, sizes given are maximum sizes for the species listed in Fishbase, not necessarily the size of the figured specimen.
