Culcita novaeguineae
Müller
& Troschel, 1842
Culcita novaeguineae
is common and
highly variable in color. This page shows but a few of the many patterns of
tops and bottoms of these large cushion-like coral and anemone eating starfish.
Nearly all specimens carry along their own group of commensal shrimp, Zenopontonia
soror, which often mimic
the colors on the star very well. Click on the thumbnail for a larger image.
